A responsible and sustainable building project in more than one sense. That is the essence of this office design, which speaks to the senses and the individual’s well-being, while the choices of furniture and décor at the same time are made based on quality considerations and a low climate impact.
Authenticity mixed with sustainability
An older office building was given a new life with a transformational makeover inside and out. Henning Larsen Architects and design studio SarahLou have been responsible respectively for the outer and inner lines. The brief was to create a welcoming and modern space on the ground floor, working as the heart of the building and naturally inviting customers and employees to meet, work, or take a break during a busy workday. Authenticity and sustainability have been keystones of the project. Thus, mainly modern furniture classics have been chosen to decorate the reception area and canteen. Long-lasting furniture of good quality and design and with an innate history as the Conscious Chair - a classic design by Børge Mogensen and Esben Klint but made in a new sustainable material – has been chosen for the project.
In the quieter corners and the Café area, The Dining Chair in FSC-certified oak has been used around round tables to create a more intimate meeting space.
With the Conscious Chair’s seat and back made in Mater’s circular material Matek,
a project of this magnitude equals almost 350 kg of recycled material.
Matek®
In alliance with large corporations, Mater has invented a patented technology that recycles their fibre and plastic waste. This resulting in five new unique materials that we’ve named Matek®.
FSC® Certified wood
From the very beginning, we have used FSC-certified wood for all wooden products in our collection. In an FSC® certified forest, no more trees than the forest can reproduce are felled, so the exploitation of nature is avoided.
Mater Take-Back
We unhesitatingly offer to take all our furniture made from Matek® back at the end of its life to recycle it into new furniture.
